In early December 2017, St. Petersburg General Hospital received certification as a Center of Excellence for Robotic Surgery, with GYN Surgeon Meenakshi Jain, MD, as the physician champion/co-applicant.

Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) granted the hospital accreditation as a Center of Excellence after a site visit and extensive process, outcomes and chart audits on November 30, 2017. The hospital will continue to be evaluated annually, with a site inspection every three years. This accreditation showcases the hospital has met nationally recognized standards in robotic surgery.

This prestigious title makes St. Petersburg General Hospital one of only three designated Robotic Centers of Excellence hospitals in Florida and one of a handful across the country. St. Pete general is only the 4th HCA hospital nationwide to have any type of robotic surgery Center of Excellence status.

Being a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery infers that the hospital has a standardized culture of excellence, an ongoing process improvement focus on healthcare quality and patient safety, and a robotic team that is coordinated and supportive with expertise in their roles.
